hello.
first, i hope you will excuse me for my english : i'm french.
2 questions :
1/
i was reading the new scenario instructions for Barbarossa campaign and i don't understand somes points :
> in russian instructions, you write
"Emergency Mobilization OOB" marker - august 1941
URSS mobile force (C; groupe 4) OOB marker - august 1941
i don't find this markers in the VASSAL module (nothing in august calendar). I don't find anything about them in the rule book ...
can you explain me ?
2/
in their change box, germans start with 2 x (10-6 armored),3 x (12-9-6) and 4x(14-9-W-6)
how can they buy this troops ?
is there a card to play (wich one ) ?
are they in their force pool ?
For the (14-9-W-6), do they can break their 12-9-6 to groop enough (4-2-6) to built 14-9-w-6. can they do it during set up ?
sorry if all this is basic for you, it's a hard fight for me to follow evolutions of this fantastic game with a bad level of english.
Thank you for helping.
In Jay's Basic Update Kit, EM is a medium card which is usually played in August 41. It also repairs one plane unit each turn as pictured above. The 1.1 setup, I posted was to help the owners of the boxed game to see how they could be playing with many of the newer ETO rules but using using the game as published with just a few changes to remember and no new units or cards. As Jim and I have started a game on the 1.1 Vassal Module, I have done a couple clarifications.
Happy to help, Willy. I hope you enjoy this special game. There's more to learn now than there was before, though it is better.
I undestand. Thank you for explanations :-)
Sorry for the confusion. The system is being developed. I think ETO will some day permit the Axis to declare war on the Soviets first (perhaps in '39), in scenarios that start early, in which case there would not be Total War until later. The game works fine if you use the EM as it appears above, and in module 0.5.5. This is a change from the original form released with TITE. Or, if you wish, you may use it as an OOB card, which is the most current version. There are other playtest modules that I do not think have been made available to the public.
TW : you have imagine that German could be at war with USSR without being against UK too ?
you say : "This card has been superseded by an OOB version".
what /where is this OOB version ?
In the vassal module, this card is there, in russian deck (not on the turn track).
if i understand , there some things in the scenario given on this website, and some on the vassal module : they are different. but both are wrong with another version you are working on and i can't find ?
not easy to follow for the poor frenchy...
🤔😃
TW stands for Total War, which refers to when the Axis were at war with both the West (UK, France, etc.) and the USSR. This card has been superseded by an OOB version (so you can draw event card(s) for August, '41) which applies for just three turns, and in TITE 2 is Aug 2 through 4, '41. The card was intended to be first available for use during the 2nd month after a Sneak Attack by the Axis (since only Minor cards can be used on the 1st month following a Sneak Attack). Don't worry about the Year card, even if you use this earlier version of EM.
I'm back with scenario instructions i don't understand, Because i'm not an easy english-reader.
About Emergency Mobilization OOB card:
1-Why this card is placed ontop of year card ? what the difference with just being on the game turn track ?
I put all the card just under the Year card. Is it wrong ?
2-the word on the card : "(...), during TW, you may (...)"
what is TW ? I can't imagine what it is as an abbreviation.
Emergency Mobilization OOB (place on top of Year card)
Sorry again for my english and thank you.
:-)
In other post I have said, the playing of the game has not changed through development. A few less Soviet planes and limited IDMs make Barbarossa have a more historical flow to the game. Some cards were not used, some were used in a way not seen before and making new things is fun so, the cards have had some changes. The Basic Update wanted to be limited to a few added pieces of paper and limited card changes but still see where ETO is heading.
that's the book i bought :-).
i'm trying to play on my real map (because i love the paper !) with "playtested scenario tite2" (i cut some missing token in cardboard); and cards in Vassal 0.5 version.
thank you for answers. :-)
The Basic Update was written to play the game in the box with just a few changes. The Vassal Module 1.1 is best used with for the basic game.
There have been a few other modules made for play testing. The 5.5 is also on this site. We have now started to play test The Middle Sea and looking ahead to Decision in the West a new module was needed and Ken was looking to have just one module to worry about.
The scenario information is written to play test the lastest TiTE2 game. It is not final, which is why we are play testing but, it is very close.
Looking at my Vassal window, I have 16 different ETO modules. I only save the old ones in case I have to review an old file. The 1.1 is the basic. 5.5 had a few updates and there is a 5.7 which is the most up to date with just the TiTE maps. Ken's new creation is 0.0.2 which has TiTE and TMS and most of the cards. There have been a couple more changes and the units, especially the Naval Units, will havs some new looks. 0.0.3 may happen before the fall.
Back to you question: The scenario book in the box is a good source when working with the basic rules. The 1.1 module's setup window is the same.
please,
the barbarossa set up order to put the german 22th air landing division in Roumania. But in the vassal module, there 's no 22th german air landing div.
If there are différences between vassal and scenarion setup uploaded here, what is actual ? Vassal ou Scenario OOB ?
thank you so much, all of you, for your help.
The MARKERs are just helpful reminders to tell you to look at this card or that card or the display. Sometimes the units are coming and sometimes they are going. When you act when the marker is located, you look ahead an place the marker for the next time that portal is used. Please ask any question you have.
Hi Willy, When setting up for Barbarossa, Panzer Corps can be Organized into Panzer Armies, just as can normally be done at the beginning of any Axis Regular Movement Phase. During Movement or Advance After Combat, a Panzer Army can be Broken Down into either two 12-9-6's or one 14-9-6 and one 10-6, if the appropriate units are in the Change Box. Three Pz Divs that begin the Reg Move Phase can also be Assembled to form a 14-9-6; or two Pz Divs and one Mot Div for a 12-9-6; or a Pz Div and two Mot Divs for a 10-9-6--and the reverse for Breaking Down. I don't understand the question about Markers.
The scenario information is written for the future Thunder in the East 2. The 14-9-[6] and 10-[6] Panzer corps are other options in the future TiTE2 Update Kit. Just use a regular 12-9-[6] when needed. For the stand alone TiTE, the units have a coming and going so one list can work fine. Looking ahead to the whole ETO system, you might have someone wanting to play Decision in the West with Thunder in the East. The units might still have movement between The Middle Sea so those OOB transfer cards would still be in play. The player would be in control of the units moving between the East and the West so those cards could be removed. Players still have the usual deck of cards to draw from each month. Other theaters have some new cards. The other type of OOB cards is to bring new units often to the force pool to show a new advancement. The Emergency Mobilization card has changed a bit with play testing. It is currently also an OOB card. It comes into your hand for free on a set schedule. You then play them as you choose and sometime advance to the next step. Group 4 on the USSR Mobile Forces (C) happens on August I 1941. All the Early Mechs are removed from play and yield their ?-4s and EPs. Six 2-1-[5] are placed in the force pool. That is the tank support for the Soviets until October 1941 when Group 5 happens via card play. Over the next six turns the 2-1-[5]s will be replaced by the going forward standard tank corp 3-1-[6]. In January, the next season (+1S); Group 6 will happen and three more 3-1-[6]s will be added to the force pool for building.
